2022 Maryland School Board Candidate Survey Results

In 2022 many areas heard this year being called the year of the parent. With many parents and family oriented groups finding displeasure in various aspects of the public education of their Children we developed a non-partisan email/online survey and presented to all Maryland School Board Candidates running in the 2022 elections. The candidate information was sourced through publicly accessible information provided by the Maryland Board of Elections online.

Out of the 148 Maryland Candidates we contacted, only 28 completed the survey. Many candidates were followed up with by phone when available and either refused to participate or did not follow through with completing the survey as requested. Candidates that dropped out of the election were not included in this dataset.

Candidate Demographics

Candidates that responded to the survey represent the following Counties

Baltimore City

Baltimore County

Calvert County

Cecil County

Charles County

Frederick County

Harford County

Prince George’s County

Talbot County

Wicomico County

Survey data reflected that the majority age group of Candidates that responded was between 45 to 54 years of age at 39.8% with the minority being between 18-24 at 0.8%. A 28.5% result should be noted for candidates age 65+.

Survey data reflected that the gender of the candidates that responded to the survey identified as 45% Female, 54% Male, and 0.8% Unknown.
